Bare Floor Cleaning
Bare Floor Cleaning
Non-carpeted floors such as hardwood, stone, tile, and laminate all require maintenance to maintain their appearance and extend their life. A vacuum is the best way to maintain bare floors to remove dust and dirt to avoid premature wear to the finish. Abrasive particles if left on the floor can be ground in and penetrate the protective coating
When vacuuming bare floor surfaces ensure the agitator (brush bar) is turned off if using an upright. Or attach the bare floor brush to the end of the hose and wand. A bare floor brush is the most effective option as it allows for the greatest contact with the floor surface and the bristles will gently clean the area.
The Miele SBB Parquet smooth 12-inch floor brush easily attaches to any Miele canister vacuum to give smooth floor finishes a thorough but gentle cleaning. The spaces between bristles allow increased airflow and more suction. It has two non-marring rubberized wheels to move from room to room.
Weighing in at 22 pounds, the Miele Complete C3 Brilliant is a strong, durable canister for bare floor surfaces. With non-marring wheels, you can move from room to room without worrying about unwanted scuffs or dents. One very convenient feature is the on/off brush roll switch located on the Comfort handpiece of this model. This allows you to safely clean your bare floor surfaces without needing to worry about unattractive markings being left behind. Also located on this Comfort hand piece are six levels of adjustable suction that can be selected by pressing on one of the six pictographs. For example, the tiled symbol designates bare flooring. Each pictograph you press will light up in bright yellow to indicate that it has been selected.
Cleaning Laminate Flooring
Remove all loose dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner and then use a laminate floor cleaner such as Bona Stone Tile & Laminate Cleaner with a microfiber mop to remove any remaining dirt
Cleaning Tile Floors
Tile floors are cleaned similarly to laminate floors unless there is grout which will require an additional step. Grout by nature is porous and can easily absorb dirt, grease, and stains. Cushing’s carries grout and tile cleaner which can be used with a brush to remove stain. Once dry it can be vacuumed.
Cleaning Marble Floors
Floors such as marble require regular preventative maintenance. To remove dust and dirt use a smooth floor attachment, ideally every couple of days. If there is a spill, it should be removed right away. If a spill is dry, a neutral pH solution will be needed to break down the stain. Cushing’s carries BONA Stone, Tile & Laminate Floor Cleaner which is made to clean these surfaces in addition to marble, granite and vinyl. It is a ready to use trigger spray.
Cleaning Slate & Ceramic Floors
Slate is a fine textured natural stone, and the cleaning method will follow that of marble
Cleaning Bamboo Floors
Bamboo flooring is one of the toughest bare floors. It will still require routine maintenance. Dust and dirt should be vacuumed with a smooth floor brush attachment. For stains we carry BONA Harwood Floor Cleaner
